Everyone who watched these hearings felt the Democrats were extremely rude. It was brazenly impolite when they asked long-winded questions only to interrupt AG Barr before he got two words out in response. Their questions had nasty false predicates and were patently unfair. They looked like consummate A-holes or whiny brats. Everytime they cut him off and grinned at how clever they were, the more I came to viscerally dislike them. He, by contrast, came off as a patient, intelligent, and responsible official, thoroughly unflappable.
Finally, the Democrats did not score a single intellectual point. Barr scored at least one when he asked “When did it become ok to burn down a Federal courthouse?” The Democrats had no answer. They seemed afraid to condemn attacks on Federal courthouses. What also came across was their unwillingness to condemn arson against the church.
Overall, this was a big embarrassment for the Democrats. They succeeded in embellishing AG Barr’s reputation and making themselves look like ludicrous kindergarten bullies.
