How is it a “climate emergency” as you insist it is when the potential harm is thirty years down the road? As you say,
“If Western societies fail to reach net-zero carbon by 2050 then we are threatening the lives of those at the front line of climate impacts”.
With thirty years lead time, why can’t those supposedly threatened take some adaptive action to save themselves? If China is the largest CO2 emitter and China and India are posting the largest CO2 emission increases, why is this demand for emergency action not addressed elsewhere? In fact the US has reduced CO2 emissions over the last two decades.
Finally with the Covid pandemic there has been a dramatic drop in CO2 emissions in many countries. There is no crisis. Stop hyperventilating.
