I am talking about VPs in corporate HR Departments who usually carry a title that includes the word “Diversity”. If you follow the advice of the author and try to carry on the type of racial sensitivity discussion suggested, you stand a good chance of being reported to that Diversity VP. At that point you will be put on probation or fired outright, just to set an example. You cannot grovel enough. Most of the Minority professionals I know take pains to dissociate themselves from the Diversity bureaucracy and its rhetoric. I don’t think you have worked for a large corporation or organization. Or you would know trying to talk about race, religion, or politics with coworkers who are not very close friends is potentially fatal to your career. Contrary to what you say, all the coworkers I knew of all races were working to make money.
