I was a Democrat for 30 years. I voted for Barack Obama twice. I opposed George Bush, his tax cut, and his invasion of Iraq. I was totally in support of Bill Clinton. He balanced the budget, funded the police, reformed welfare, and helped the working class. Back then, Democrats opposed illegal immigration much more than Republicans. When Republicans impeached Bill Clinton, I wrote letters attacking them. I was also furious at their government shutdowns.

I go all the way back as a Democrat. I think FDR was a great President. I strongly admire Harry Truman. I would have voted for Adlai Stevenson. I think the world of JFK. But for the mistake of Vietnam, LBJ was an incredible and very effective President. Who else could have gotten Civil Rights legislation adopted? I went to Mississippi as a poll watcher to ensure Americans of any race could cast their votes.

I was a Democrat all that time even though I opposed some factions of the party. I opposed Southern Democrats because of their support for segregation. I also was not supportive of the far Leftist wing of the party, the repressive corrupt big city political machines. Nor did I back Jimmy Carter’s reelection.

Democrats of the JFK, LBJ, Truman, FDR, and even Bill Clinton variety have no place in the Democrat Party now. It detests working class people and it loathes America. It has been taken over by Progressives who push racial division. It is run by Billionaires and Tech Giants pushing terrible trade deals, illegal immigration, censorship, urban unrest, homelessness, and going soft on crime. I do not support police defunding, cashless bail, sanctuary cities, illegal immigration, stagnant real wages, cancel culture, false accusations, bad trade deals, appeasement abroad, and all else that the Democrat party has now become infested with. It’s coterie of mindless followers are a pale shadow of what what Democrats used to be. I am not so much a Republican as I am an opponent of what the Democrats have become.
