It’s pretty obvious you are no economist. The fact is the economy is doing incredibly well, better than any time in the last decade or two. More people have jobs than ever. Unemployment is the lowest since April 2000.
Black and Hispanic unemployment are the lowest ever. Employment is the highest ever. Real wages have finally started to rise. The stock market is near all time highs. People with 401ks and IRAs have made 20% over the last two years. Real estate has started to recover and is booming in some areas.
There are more job openings than unemployed job seekers. Get on Monster or Indeed and then tell me there are no jobs. These may not all be dream jobs, but there are jobs out there.
Of course there are people who still can’t get jobs and places that are not doing so well. But you have to put on blinders to deny things have gotten a lot better the last few years.
By the way, a lot of real economists think the measured inflation rate is still overstated. Some countries are experiencing price drops, general deflation, commodity oversupply, and negative interest rates. Go buy a TV or laptop computer and compare to prices 10 years ago : they’re a lot cheaper now.
I don’t do this often but I have to side with the New York Times on this one. They were accurately reporting on the BLS jobs report and they indicated their source.
