Justice was the least concern of those who used the accusations of sexual assault for political purposes. Each new allegation was an increasingly ludicrous and increasingly obvious attempt to stall the nomination and smear the nominee.
Only the original accusation seemed to be possible, but no one knows what really happened years ago at an unspecified location on an unknown date in a uncertain year. There is no physical evidence and no corroboration by anyone, not even by the female friend. She further does not even remember knowing Kavanaugh. The facts of the case don’t reach a minimal standard needed to fairly deny confirmation to any nominee.
The same people who said “believe all women” also refused to believe Karen Monahan when she accused Keith Ellison of domestic abuse and had police reports, texts, and hospital records to back it up. I don’t think they care about justice for her.
The entire attempt to make the case between Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh not about what happened with them but about women in general is totally contrary to any principle of justice. Kavanaugh is not guilty because bad things were done to other women by other men. Neither is he innocent because false allegations were made by other women against other men. The case needs to be evaluated on its individual merits.
