Many people, including me, associate him first and foremost with disrespecting the flag because that is how he chose to present himself. After that it doesn’t matter what he says or what his cause is: it’s wrong because it’s tainted by association with his deliberately insulting behavior. We can’t get past his behavior and antics to address whatever his point was.

I also think you are twisting MLKs legacy — in fact he marched with the flag and you are trying to quote him in support of disrespecting that flag. He is rolling over in his grave over what you are doing. It’s so wrong.
