New York has lost the Amazon jobs and it has lost the construction jobs needed to build the Amazon facilities and it has lost the jobs of all the workers in grocery stores and dry cleaners and schools needed to support the Amazon workers. It has lost billions of future tax revenue. It has also lost the jobs of all the businesses who are deciding not to locate in New York City.
You think that’s wonderful. Only it isn’t. Only an enemy of workers would cheer the loss of so many jobs. Actual workers hate “kill the jobs” activists. These activists don’t put food on the table. They don’t establish or promote thriving businesses. They do convince job creators to move jobs elsewhere. They impoverish cities by destroying their tax base. They claim victory when they reduce another urban neighborhood to a slum. They have no clue how to negotiate a better deal with businesses or how to do anything good for workers.
