That isn’t hair-splitting — it’s the essence of individual freedom. The government has the power to collect taxes from you and me and our Constitutionally elected leaders can spend it on any legal purposes as per our existing statutes and regulations. But it can’t force individuals to spend their own money on anything. What troubles me is that you don’t see the distinction and think it is hair-splitting. So when you are commanded to buy $500 of Hydroxychloroquine, or a $50 American flag, out of your own money, on what principle could you object?
