The reason I stopped being a Democrat is that it became a party dominated by identity politics that despised the rights of individuals. It no longer cares about free speech, but now is the repressive agent of mob agitation, deplatforming, and political correctness. It is hostage to its Progressive Left faction whose core ideology is opposition to individual freedoms. There may be lots of reasons to back the Democrats, but if your concern is about dignity of the individual, might I suggest you have the wrong party.
