There is a lot of rewriting of history in this article. People by and large decided whatever happened to Anita Hill wasn’t so bad in her own opinion because she followed him to other departments and had him write letters of recommendation. It seemed like a quid pro quo she had accepted to get ahead and only came to regret and object to after the fact.
A key missing point is that there did seem to be a racist undertone in the way they tried to raise sexual harassment charges against a Black American man. This was the opening salvo in the politics of personal destruction and it was not pretty.
Finally whatever momentum was generated to listen more carefully to charges of sexual abuse and harassment was reversed soon after by the Democratic Party campaign trashing the women who charged Bill Clinton with severe sexual misconduct, up to and including forcible rape.
Even now this group tells us to ignore the very credible and well-supported abuse charges made by Keith Ellison’s ex- girlfriend while telling us out of the other side of their mouth to always believe all women.
