This is fairly delusional. As the impeachment inquiry vote made clear, the impeachment process is a partisan exercise. There were no GOP defections. Public hearings will hurt the Democrats- they have no smoking gun and will have a hard time resisting demands to put the Whistleblower, Adam Schiff, Hunter Biden, and a parade of Ukrainian officials and Burisma board members on the stand. The clock will be ticking against the Democrats. They will be trying to grab attention during the Holidays. They will pass impeachment and thereby give Mitch McConnell control of the clock. He will stage the hearings to embarrass the Democrats. They will have no way to stop subpoenas being issued for the Bidens, the Whistleblower, and even Adam Schiff. How desperate will the Democrats grow as their Presidential candidates struggle to get airtime in the midst of wall-to-wall impeachment trial coverage? In the end, there won’t be more than two or three GOP Senators voting for conviction. Meanwhile there will likely be at least two and as many as five Democrats who defect. The final vote will be a majority against conviction, nowhere near the two thirds need to convict. It will play out as a total vindication of Trump and boost GOP chances of taking back the House.
