This is so far-fetched it qualifies as delusional. Impeachment won’t even get half the Democrats on board and no Republicans will vote for it. Pelosi may allow annoying committee hearings, but she won’t let it get beyond that.

The media is broadly hinting Mueller’s investigation is coming to an end with no additional indictments coming down. Mueller is writing a report that the AG Barr could well refuse to release. Or it could be released as a summary or heavily redacted. Mueller will not pull a Comey and issue public attacks on anyone: he will indict or stay silent.

Meanwhile the Senate Judiciary Committee is preparing its report finding no direct evidence of collusion. So where are the High Crimes and Misdemeanors? Unless stunning new evidence pops up, the proponents of the collusion narrative are going gave to start eating large portions of crow as their favorite bizarre conspiracy theory publicly falls apart.

Even if an impeachment were to pass the House, there is no chance of conviction by the Senate. So what is the point?

Even CNNs recent poll showed a majority against impeachment.

The biggest problem with impeachment for the Democrats is that it hurts their chances for 2020. It will overshadow anything their contenders are saying. It will mobilize Republican, Independent, and working class Trump 2016 voters to turn out in 2020. Every time Maxine Waters says impeachment, the Democratic nominee loses another few Electors in the Electoral College.

Let’s summarize: some people are still in denial about the result of the 2016 election and even as their ludicrous collusion charge is falling apart, and they have no high crimes and misdemeanors to prosecute, and huge segments of the public are tired of hearing about it, they still want to press forward to impeachment. Well that’s one good way to help reelect Trump. Go for it!
