Trump wants impeachment because he won’t be convicted by the Senate, because it will drown out and define the Democratic Party presidential candidates, because it will turn off independents who are sick of the investigations and partisan infighting, because it will rally Republicans to his side and boost turnout like nothing else, because it will lead to the defeat of lots of Democratic Representatives from moderate districts and return the House to Republican hands. I predict Nancy will eventually give in and begin impeachment. She’ll be unable to resist the mob that’s angry enough to jump off a cliff.
