Two wrongs don’t make a right. The impeachment of Clinton was absolutely wrong. The impeachment of Trump is even worse. Perjury over private sexual activity is not a high crime and misdemeanor. To use it as the basis for an impeachment is just an illegitimate attempt to overturn an election. There is even less wrong, arguably nothing wrong at all, with Trump’s call and his temporary suspension of some forms of aid to the Ukraine. There is no crime here. To use it as the basis for impeachment is ludicrous. It is a partisan and illegitimate attempt to overturn an election.
Democrats have been pushing faithless electors, fraudulent use of the 25th amendment, and a phony Russian collusion conspiracy and more to annul the election of 2016. This Resistance is a fundamental attack on our Constitutional system.
After being a Democrat for 30 years, I left the party two years ago partly over this dangerous refusal to accept election results. Both parties need to realize this: unless you have crimes and misdemeanors blatant enough to convince large segments of the President’s own party, you have nothing at all.
