While you could give AOC an award for contrived drama and overly emotive acting, her attempt to connect the events at the Capitol to her own personal experience is a craven attempt to put herself on center stage.
As you note and as was widely reported, she went into a panic over a Capitol policeman knocking on her door to help evacuate the building. A fellow Representative two doors down came over to coax her out.
She vastly exaggerated the danger: there were no demonstrators in her part of the building when she was there. She exploited her own experience as a sexual assault survivor. She did make it personal. She made herself look ridiculous and melodramatic while demeaning the plight of sexual assault survivors.
